PROGRAM MISSION

Our philosophy is that methadone is a safe and effective treatment for opiate dependence. The mission of Gulf Coast Treatment Center is total rehabilitation of persons served by restoration of physical and mental health and functional status.

VALUES: Gulf Coast Treatment Center believes addiction is a disease that affects the individual, the family and the community. We believe people should have access to needed services that achieve optimal outcomes. They have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and should be empowered to make informed choices.

Gulf Coast Treatment Center is nationally and state accredited.
Quality care is provided in a safe, clean, friendly environment and that provides the least restrictive treatment possible.
Individual, group, and family counseling services are available to meet patient needs with goals of eliminating the use of illicit opiates and other problematic substances, reducing or eliminating associated criminal activities, and reducing behavior contributing to the spread of infectious diseases.
Staff is properly educated and highly trained to provide competent, compassionate, and friendly care.

Facts:
Methadone does not get you high once a maintenance dose is acheived.

Methadone has been used medically for treatment of opiate addiction for over thirty years.

Methadone has had more medical and clinical research and more government regulation than any other substance used to treat addictions.

There has been no evidence that methadone causes any long-term physical damage to the body.

Methadone is metabolized in the liver but is not stored in the body.

Methadone is not harmful to a pregnancy.
