Meet Criminal Defense Lawyer And Former Utah Judge Pro Tempore Catherine Cleveland At my Salt Lake City law firm, I take a hands-on approach to cases and provide my clients with personal attention. I answer their questions and provide skilled guidance through the legal system. This approach helps me to serve as a dedicated and passionate advocate for people accused of crimes in Utah State and Federal Courts. In every case I handle, I aim to help my clients protect their records, rights and freedom. For more than 15 years, I have been defending the rights of people facing criminal charges. My local experience has helped me gain an in-depth understanding of the judges and prosecutors who run our legal system, so that I can anticipate the potential results of your case and the strategies that will work best to help you reduce or avoid penalties. In the legal system, most cases are resolved in plea negotiations — not at trial. The cases I handle are no exception. In most matters, negotiations with prosecutors often lead to quick resolutions at hearings before judges. But not every negotiation is successful. At my Salt Lake City law firm, I never let my clients settle for less than they deserve. If a plea deal can’t be reached, I have what it takes to successfully take your criminal defense cases to trial. My Criminal Defense Practice My focus is exclusively on criminal defense. I have the capacity to represent clients in both State and Federal Courts, in matters including shoplifting and other theft crimes, as well as Internet crimes, sex crimes and gang-related crimes. I also handle a broad spectrum of drug crimes and juvenile charges. Above all — no matter what the charges — I do quality work for my clients. Many of my clients come to my firm from the Salt Lake City area, through Utah and from out of state. I am well equipped to handle their cases efficiently and effectively, no matter where they live. Using the latest technology, I keep my clients up-to-date. Meetings are done in a way that is convenient for you. If you live out-of-state, in some cases you may be required to make only limited visits to Utah from your home state.
