Montroll, Backus & Oettinger, P.C., was founded in 2013 when longtime friends, Andy Montroll and Rob Backus, joined together to use their experience and expertise to provide high-quality legal services to a broad clientele. Their partnership was founded on high regard for each other’s legal skills, which started when they met in 1997 while serving on the Burlington City Council. By 2013, Andy and Rob found that their legal paths made it possible to form this new and exciting partnership. In 2014, their expanding business required the hiring of new staff and a move to a new location. In February 2014 they hired Michelle Mraz to manage the office and provide paralegal services. In July 2014, Mark Oettinger joined the firm as attorney of counsel; then, Montroll, Backus, & Oettinger, P.C. became associated with Melendy Moritz, a provider of complex estate planning with offices in southern Vermont and New Hampshire.
