Minnesota’s ignition interlock program allows some offenders to regain their driving privileges through the issue of restricted and/or limited license with the installation of an ignition interlock device. An ignition interlock device is installed on any vehicle that the offender will be driving. It measures the individual’s AC level and if there is any detection of alcohol, the vehicle will not start. Successful completion of the program is required in order to regain driving privileges for a person whose license has been cancelled or denied.
