In Alabama, the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) limit is 0.08% for drivers over the age of 21 years old. For drivers under the age of 21 years old, the BAC limit is 0.02%. Additionally, school bus drivers and day care drivers have a limit set at 0.04%.
By receiving a driver’s license from the State of Alabama, you automatically provide your consent to be tested if stopped by a law enforcement officer while driving. This law is the “implied consent” and can be used by the officer to test a driver suspected of drunk driving. This testing can be done through a breathalyzer test or by testing your Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) by taking an actual blood test. Anyone who refuses to take the chemical test will result in the suspension of their license.
