Northwest Alabama Treatment Center is a privately owned substance abuse treatment center that has been serving the residents of Jefferson County and surrounding counties in Alabama for 25 years.
Methadone Maintenance
One dose per day. Come every day
Daily dosing at $16.00 a day for Phase 1 (new) clients. Client can pay with cash, credit/debit card or money order. We also accept Medicaid insurance. This daily fee includes all medical increases or decreases to reach a stable dose amount.
Dosing Hours: Monday through Friday 5:00am to 10:30am. Saturday and Sunday 6:00am to 9:00am. Counselors are available until 1:00pm on weekdays and from 6:00am to 9:00am on weekends.
Group Therapy
Groups are available weekly, with different counselors
A variety of groups are available throughout each month. The schedule of groups changes monthly based on counselor and group room availability. Examples of groups include:

- Anger management
- Relapse prevention
- Emotions and Addiction
- Bible Study
- Risk Reduction
- Patient Orientation (new clients)
- Community Resources
- Basic Living Skills
- Managing Stress
Medical Appointments
Increases stability and decreases detoxing
Physician completes history and physicals and consults on most medical issues affecting treatment. Doctor is on staff most days of the week.
Medical tests: TB skin tests (annual), RPR (Syphillis testing), Vital Sign monitoring
Counseling Sessions
Get back on track
During the first 90 days of the client’s treatment, they will meet with a case manager for 14 days to establish a maintenance level of methadone and to get any resources they may need for additional needs. After 14 days they will meet with their counselor once a week. After 90 days, clients see them once a month for an individual session and when needed.

Here at NWATC, we are able to assess any and all persons with a substance use disorder or mental illness. If you have an addiction to any illicit drug or are in need of mental health services, we are able to assess you and refer you to the appropriate treatment as well as provide the necessary resources from the community that you may be in need of.
